APPCIOS is an independent accrediting body.  We are not associated with any one training organisation. We are able to accept members from a variety of in-house trainings provided by organisations to train their staff groups.

Many of our founding members were trained by two such organisations; the Cassel Hospital and Thornby Hall, Peper Harow. You can find descriptions of the work of these organisations in the section on the history of psychodynamic organisational practice by pressing the relevant tab.

We also provide help and advice for organisations wanting to set up their own APPCIOS approved trainings. We can accredit these trainings so that graduates can be accepted as “senior associate members”, entitled to become a BPC trainee member and  with a programme of further training to advance to full membership. We call these ‘hosted trainings’.  We have currently accredited these trainings:

Essex University: BA in Therapeutic Communications and Therapeutic Organisations,           (TCTO)

The Mulberry Bush: Foundation Degree in Therapeutic Work with Children and Young            People (validated by the University of West of England)

The Anna Freud Centre: Parent Infant Therapist and Practitioner Training.

It is als0 possible to train as an APPCIOS counsellor or practitioner by undertaking a portfolio training through approved modules. We plan to approve modules supplied by a variety of training institutions throughout the UK.
