Welcome to APPCIOS
Promoting Mental Health in Organisations
For recent updates – see our NEWS page.
APPCIOS is a new, fast growing independent professional association. It was formed in 2011 with a view to providing accreditation, validation and a professional network for psychodynamic practitioners working within organisational settings in a variety of professional roles.
It aims to perform the following key functions:
- To provide clinical accreditation for those wishing to enhance their existing professional skills;
- To provide a strong professional network for its members;
- To provide information, advice and support to organisations interested in upskilling their staff in psychodynamic and self-reflective ways of working;
- To lobby for wider recognistion of the importance of psychodynamic and self-reflective work in promoting well-being within organisations and staff groups, and better care for vulnerable clients.
Our members can work in schools, children’s residential care, youth projects and justice teams, nurseries, fostering agencies, social care teams and adult care homes, hospitals, prisons and youth offending institutions and in a wide variety of professional roles: they can work as teachers and other school support staff, residential social workers, youth workers, nursery nurses, social workers, nurses and prison staff.
Our members include psychotherapists and organisational consultants as well as accredited psychodynamic organisational counsellors. As members of APPCIOS they belong to a wide network of practitioners who are using their training to enrich the reflective capacity of the organisations in which they work; to improve the level of collaboration between colleagues; and to extend and deepen the quality of the relationships they offer to clients. There is evidence that this approach offers substantial benefits to the wellbeing of both clients and staff.
